History of SSSOC
Simply Styling has a long history of accomplishments over the years under the direction of Jerome N. Stanley, Jr. Simply Styling Hair Salon was opened in 1997 at 10th & Kirkwood Streets in Wilmington, Delaware, in a small corner apartment that he converted into a mixed-use commercial business. Simply Styling Hair Salon was on one side of the building and Big Ass Chicken Joint was on the other side of the location where Mr. Stanley serviced the community. As a licensed cosmetologist, Mr. Stanley decided to advance his education by going to Berean Institute in Philadelphia, PA, and graduated in 2001 with his cosmetology instructor license.
While attending Berean Institute, he decided to utilize the education he obtained and working closely with the owner of the school, Mrs. Mack, as her apprentice. He worked as her secretary– writing lesson plans, typing letters, filing department of education information, and going to state board meetings alongside Mrs. Mack. Simply Styling School of Cosmetology (SSSOC) was then opened in 2000 and Jerome Stanley was named the youngest person to receive the Certificate of Approval Private Business and Trade School from the Department of Education, at the age of 27. SSSOC was open for a few years before Governor Ruth Ann Minner affirmed Mr. Stanley to the State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering, where he served until 2006
In 2005, Mr. Stanley made the hard decision to move the business location to Union St. in Wilmington, Delaware and close the school. The salon remained open for business. Thereafter, he began his research of online schooling for apprenticeship training. As he grew the salon over the years, change had come to him again, this time via a brand change. Simply Styling Hair Salon became J. Stanley Salon in 2016–new brand, new look, and a booming business! He also began teaching a business planning course to local small business owners through the Launcher Program with Barclay Bank. Tragedy struck when a debilitating fire occurred at the salon. J. Stanley Salon was closed for a year, but Mr. Stanley never quit. He continued to teach at the local community center and on his down time, he redesigned the J. Stanley Salon brand and business look and created Simply Styling School of Cosmetology Online Apprenticeship Training.
He is now able to offer apprentices state of the art, online training for state board examinations for barbers, cosmetologists, and nail technicians.
